Florene Snead

Florene Snead, 85 of Evergreen, CO, formerly of Lewisburg, KY. died on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Wheat Ridge, CO. Ms. Snead was born outside of Lewisburg, KY on March 28, 1926, to parents Elmer & Ila (Brown) Coursey. Flo graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1944, studied office practice at a business college in Nashville, TN, and later taught office practice at Lewisburg High School. Ernest Snead of Sharon Grove, KY, returned home from the war in Europe in 1945 and married Florene Coursey on February 2, 1946. Flo worked as a teller at Lewisburg Banking Company for 20 years, and was very active in the local chapter of Eastern Star and eventually served that organization at the state level. Ms. Snead was preceded in death by husband Ernest on November 27, 2000, and grandson William Douglas Rae on September 24, 1994. Ms. Snead moved to Colorado in 2003 to live near her daughter and family. She was a resident of Elk Run Assisted Living in Evergreen. She is survived by daughter; Judith (Judi) Wilson- (Paul), Idaho Springs, CO; granddaughter, Lisa Rae- (Nick LeClereq), Evergreen, CO; sister, Jean Porter- (H.D.), Bowling Green, KY; brother, Robert Ccoursey- (Jo), Clarksville, TN; brother-in-law John Snead- (Sarah), Bowling Green, KY. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, all of CO; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Price Funeral Home, Inc., Lewisburg, KY on Friday, June 24, 2011 beginning at 5:00 PM and again after 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2011. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Elk Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Art Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Lick Baptist Church Cemetery.
