Award winning poet, Victoria Elizabeth "Oglesby" Davis, of Los Lunas, NM, born June 28, 1957 in Evansville, IN, age 47 went home to her Lord, January 4, 2005 after a long illness. She has been cremated. She worked for Indiana State Teachers Association and Evansville Teachers Association for 15 years, before she became ill. She attended the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by a son, Stephen Eric Davis of Los Lunas, NM, mother, Shirley Rae "Longist" Oglesby of Los Lunas, NM, father William A. Oglesby and his friend Susan Donovan of Princeton, IN, brother William A. Oglesby II of Gibsonton, FL, grandmother Juanita Hall of Evansville, IN, nieces Sopheia Oglesby and her friend Adam Paris, Samantha Oglesby all of Gibsonton, FL and great nephew Elijah Nathaniel Paris and many other loved ones. She was a loving mother and daughter, as well as a friend to many around the world. Victoria was a Published author and Poet. She was honored with numerous awards including International Poet of Merit Award. As a lifetime member of the Sigma Tau Delta Sorority, Chapter of the International English Honor Society, Mu Phi Chapter of University of Southern Indiana and a member of the Red Bird Rest Room Poetry Company. Victoria received the Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Silver Award Bowl and Commemorative Award Medallion for 2005. She is a member of Grace Baptist Church in Evansville, IN and attended the Albuquerque Indian Baptist Mission in Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter or rescue center for animals. A memorial service will be held March 21, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in Evansville, IN, at Grace Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the Lewisburg Cemetery in Lewisburg, KY.
